Guide Right
Guide Right, established in 1922 by Leon W. Steward, is the national service initiative of Kappa Alpha Psi® Fraternity, Inc. This program is dedicated to providing educational and occupational guidance to youth, particularly young people of color, with a strong focus on leadership development, mentoring, and fostering an achievement-oriented mindset. The flagship initiative, the Kappa Leadership Development League, serves as the cornerstone of the program, offering practical tools and mentorship to prepare youth for success. Guide Right was conceived to address the challenges of underachievement, providing a meaningful framework for empowering young people to reach their full potential. With over 500,000 youth mentored, it proudly stands as the oldest and most successful mentoring program for youth of color, inspiring excellence and leadership in future generations.

St. Jude (Sunday of Hope)
In July 2005, Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. proudly partnered with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, embracing the organization as its National Philanthropic Partner. Renowned for its groundbreaking contributions to pediatric healthcare, St. Jude leads one of the world’s largest sickle cell research and treatment programs. Among its many achievements, St. Jude became the first hospital to cure sickle cell disease through bone marrow transplantation, a procedure that remains the only known cure for the condition.
This partnership inspired the creation of the Sunday of Hope program, an initiative that empowers Kappa Alpha Psi members to actively support St. Jude’s lifesaving mission. Through this program, churches across the United States unite to raise funds and awareness for children battling severe illnesses such as cancer and sickle cell disease.
Sunday of Hope events, held annually from January through April, provide a platform for Kappa Alpha Psi members to engage with their congregations. During a dedicated service, members share the critical impact of St. Jude’s work and encourage special donations to further the hospital’s mission. To date, Kappa Alpha Psi has demonstrated unwavering support, raising nearly $800,000 through Sunday of Hope and other philanthropic efforts. This partnership underscores the fraternity’s commitment to making a lasting difference in the lives of children and families facing life-threatening illnesses.
