Greetings!
I am Mark Barnes, a proud member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc. I am also blessed and honored to be the 25th Polemarch of the Akron Alumni Chapter the home of the Rubber City Nupes. The Akron Alumni Chapter continues to provide excellent community support through various programs and initiatives. In October of 2023 The Rubber City Nupes gave out candy at Case Preparatory to more than 100 students – safely! In December of the same year, the Akron Alumni Chapter gave away more than 200 turkeys during the holiday season to Akron area residents. To culminate our fraternal year our Kappa Foundation gave away more than $10,000.00 to deserving Akron area students in the way of scholarships as these students pursue post secondary education. We are a group of men proud to serve our community and give back in as many ways as we possibly can. Our reach stems well beyond Summit County as we also participate in the Portage County Polar Bear Jump and we are working on other partnerships within the Northeast Ohio area. One of our emphasis this year will be voter registration and getting community members to the polls.
In the spring of 2025, we are planning one of the biggest events Akron has ever seen. The East Central Province will be holding its annual convention in the city and your Rubber City Nupes are the hosts! Stay tuned for the details on events throughout the week which begin on April 10 through the 13th.
Finally, we will culminate our fraternal year in Akron by celebrating 70 years of service to the community. Details to follow. Hope to see you at a Kappa sponsored event soon.
All the best in service,
Mark E. Barnes, Polemarch, Akron Alumni Chapter
"The fundamental purpose of Kappa Alpha Psi is ACHIEVEMENT. We desire to awaken within each member high ideals and an unquenchable desire to achieve, both in college and in subsequent life, a place of usefulness and honor in the world...."
